We finish up the mother/daughters trio with Aaliyah, this week’s Member of the Week! Like her mother Michelle and her sister Martika, Aaliyah is new to CrossFit, joining only this summer. But this family has made a lot of progress in such a short time! Aaliyah is a 20 year old student from Medford who has gained a lot of confidence in the gym through CrossFit. Her biggest milestone (so far!) has been deadlifting 225 pounds! Aaliyah advises everyone to “live your life like a lion and always conquer any challenge that comes your way.” Great motivation Aaliyah!

Q: What is your favorite CrossFit workout? Favorite exercise/skill?
A: My favorite crossfit exercises are backed squats. I like the challenge of pushing myself to lift heavy weights.
Q: If there were a WOD named after you, what would it have in it?
A: My WOD would include ring rows, back squats, and mountain climbers.
Q: What is your favorite cheat meal?
A: I LOVE ice cream.
Q: How has CrossFit enriched your life outside the gym?
A: Crossfit has helped me not be so lost or confused in the gym. I feel more confident in what I am doing, and I do less awkward walking around to find something to do.
Q: What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear these words?
A: FRAN: A nice lady

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: I have gone to over 200 weddings in my life.
Q: Do you have any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit?
A: For those who are new to crossfit, never fear a challenge. Live your life like a lion, and always conquer any challenge that comes your way.
